Residents’ Christmas Fair

In late November the residents held their annual Christmas Fair in our new communal room at The Old Grammar School, to raise funds for charity.

This is usually only attended by residents’ friends and family due to a lack of space, however with our new, larger room we were able to open it to the public for the first time.

The residents had been working hard for months to prepare handmade and knitted items to sell, and there was also Tombola (Italian bingo), a raffle and plenty of refreshments and cakes.

On the day we had some residents and their family and friends volunteer to come along and man the stalls.

Many people dropped in during the day and stayed for a cup of tea and a chat. The residents enjoyed showing off their new space and talking to visitors about the almshouse and their activities.

Everyone had a great day and the money raised will go to some charities of the residents choosing.
