The 'Pat Cox Meeting Room'

2020 began with the sad news of the passing of Pat Cox, a dear friend and trustee of the Dulwich Almshouse Charity. Pat was a powerful advocate for DAC’s work and our beneficiaries and was also awarded a British Empire Medal in the 2018 New Year Honours list. Her dedication, wit and support continue to be much missed.

Since her passing, the charity has been looking at ways to recognise her immense contribution and we are delighted to announce that our recently acquired community space at The OId Grammar School has now been named the ‘Pat Cox Meeting Room'.

It had been our intention to officially 'open' the new community room earlier in 2020 at an event with our residents, friends of the charity and members of the local community. But, as with so many other best laid plans this year, we were forced to cancel the event. We intend to formally mark the occasion once it is safe again to do so and, in the meantime, we hope that Pat would be both proud and honoured that her name adorns the room. Her memory will live on and we will remain forever grateful for all her work.
