The Chapel of Christ’s Chapel of God's Gift 400 year anniversary

2016 marks the 400 year anniversary of the consecration of Christ’s Chapel of God’s Gift in Dulwich Village. The Chapel has The Dulwich Estate Office to one side and we the Dulwich Almshouse, on the other.

On the evening of Thursday 1st September the Almshouse Residents were invited to join the Chapel’s 400 celebrations. The celebrations started with a service led by the Bishop of Southwark in the Chapel. One of our residents had been involved in decorating the Chapel with very beautiful flower arrangements. This was followed by a reception in the grounds of the neighbouring Dulwich Picture Gallery.

10 Residents from the Almshouse attended the service. 7 residents then chose to attend the reception. The Residents were able to sit very comfortably at a table in the marquee which was not used by anyone else, as the lovely weather kept everyone else outside.

The Residents were very well looked after by the staff of the Picture Gallery and had canapes and drinks brought to the table, which they very much enjoyed and appreciated.
